Most cannabis lovers are familiar with the traditional ways of ingestion – smoking, eating, and vaping. But, did you know that drinking cannabis-infused drinks may be a healthier (and gentler) alternative to achieving the same effects?

Although many of them are intoxicating, cannabis-infused drinks aren’t simply a new way to get high. They have many of the medicinal benefits of the herb, without the stigma (and coughing) associated with smoking.
And, when it comes to taste, you can expect it to add a herbal undertone to any beverage it is added to. The exact flavor, however, will depend on the strain in the drink.
All in all, cannabis mixes well and can be found in a variety of drinks. The list includes, but is not limited to the following beverages:
There’s something genius about combining coffee and cannabis. Think about it – the caffeine gets you ready to face the world while the cannabis takes away any nervous/jittery feelings.
Cannabis infused teas are becoming all the rage – especially amongst those who are on the hunt for a smoke-free consumption method.
Since it’s illegal for breweries to put THC in their beverages, the canna-beer varieties available contain CBD – a non-psychoactive cannabinoid.
Many aficionados have (at least once) drank some liquor before or after smoking a joint. And, while it may seem that cannabis cocktails are the same thing, they are a completely different animal.
Do Try This At Home
To make your own delightful drinks, the easiest thing to do is make a cannabis-infused simple syrup and add it to your favorite beverages.
The recipe is as follows:
• Place your buds in the oven and bake them for three minutes at 175 Fahrenheit.
• Boil 3 cups of sugar and 3 cups of water until the sugar has dissolved completely.
• Add a couple tablespoons of ground up buds (about two grams) to the mixture and lower the dial on your stove.
• Let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
• Add some vegetable glycerin and cover the pot, stirring every minute for about five minutes.
• Strain the mixture and store.
Some Words of Caution
Drinking a cannabis-infused drink isn’t as simple as smoking a joint or consuming the average cocktail. There are a ton of variables (the cannabis strain, your body, the potency of the drink itself) that come into play. So, before you head to your kitchen to mix up a THC-infused cocktail, there are some things that you should know:
• Take things low and slow, i.e., start with one drink that has a low dosage of cannabis – preferably non-alcoholic.
• Like edibles, it takes some time (up to an hour or two) to feel the effects of a cannabis drinkable. The high also lasts longer so pace yourself.
• Try it for the first time in a safe environment like your home. In this way, you are somewhere safe if you overdo it.
• Do not drive after consuming a cannabis drinkable.
• Limit the number of cannabis-infused drinks you have in a day. One a night sounds about right.
• If you overdo it (feeling anxious or the buzz is too much to handle) drink some fresh lemon juice and chew on 3 or 4 cloves. Peppercorns work too.
